Summer is soon approaching and a month from now, school days will be over. I bet everyone’s excited about it and thinking where to go for a perfect vacation. We all love to go to the beach and definitely most of us will be spending it in Boracay, Dakak, Subic, Camarines Sur for surfing or Puerto Galera. Apart from prepping our body to look good on bikini, one thing is sure that sunglasses will always be part of our trendy fashion style this summer.
I’m wondering what sunglasses should I wear for the summer and how much should I spend for it?
But before that, let me tell you when sunglasses started.
As per Wiki, during the prehistoric time, they uses a thing called “Inut” which have narrow slits at the center that could allow the user to peek through it. China, on the other hand, created sunglasses made out of quartz but has not power to protect your eyes from rays of the sun. In 1752, James Ayscough had created blue or green tinted glasses that could correct vision impairments. But, only on 1940’s when it become popular as fashion accessory especially on the beach.. This is why trend setters nowadays wear it even indoors or when there’s no sun at all. Some do wear it as a form of disguise too.
Now, what’s the best sunglasses to wear?
Shape of the face plays an important role in choosing the right sunglasses. The different shapes are illustrated below:
The common face shapes are square, oval, round and heart. While uncommon shapes are triangular and diamond. If you are Oval shape, you’re lucky since any type of sunglasses will work for you. If you’re round shape, round frames would not be a good choice for it will only exaggerate the fullness of your face. Of course, you don’t want to look like a ball ready to burst. So go for rectangular or wide ones. Oblong shapes will look good on oversized frames while heart and square shapes will look good on round or cat’s eye sunglasses.
On the otherhand, triangular shape must frames that are accented with colors or designs while diamond shape must go for oval and cat’s eye shape to soften the sharpness of cheekbones.
Where to buy affordable or cheap sunglasses?
If you have limited time and needs to buy just one pair, go to the mall. SM department store has cheap and affordable sunglasses you're looking for. Their price ranges from PHP 99 to PHP 399. Highly recommended brand is Pacific Blue Eyewear and they have lots of wonderful styles like aviators, wayfarers and others.
On the other hand, if you wanted cheaper and in volumes, go to Quiapo or Divisoria or 168 Mall. There you may buy sunglasses in bulk at low prices depending on the style and brand of the sunglasses you’ll buy. As far as I’m concerned, most of the wholesalers require a minimum of 12 or 6 pieces of the same style while some allowed assorted ones. Greenhills is also famous for the Class A sunglasses which indicates that they are close to original but is high quality compare to imitations. So if you're choosy and with class, visit Greenhills.
But if time is limited and travelling is not an option, you may buy affordable and cheap sunglasses via the internet either in ebay.ph, sulit.com.ph or multiply.com.
What are the advantages or disadvantages in buying cheap sunglasses?
Well, the good thing about cheap sunglasses is, it’s affordable and economical. Prices of commodities, nowadays, are so high that it’s no longer practical to buy or divulge into something that’s too pricey. If you want to be in and on style but have limited budget, then buying cheap sunglasses is good for you. Aside from that, you’re not limited on one style of frame but you can have as many as you like! You can have wayfarer, aviators, oversized, cat’s eye or round shape sunglasses. Thus, different style for different occasions. So what’s the disadvantage? Of course, quality is not good enough. Expect that it won’t last long, since durability is low.
So there you have it, choose the correct sunglasses that compliment your face and your budget. Don’t just go to what’s trendy if it doesn’t fit you. Not all are gifted with oval shape. Don’t go for cheap ones if you’re conscious about quality. And lastly, the decision will always be yours to make not ours.
